The Joker Pub & Restaurant, Quarteira

We have owned The Joker for 30 years, since 1985 and have established it as a Pub & Restaurant known for high standard of home cooked food and good value with a pub atmosphere. It is a good year-round business, with the summer rush and during the winter months, we have groups of golfers and bowlers who come every year, using the facilities in Vilamoura (the neighbouring resort) plus the long stay visitors who escape from UK, Canada, Holland during the cold months looking for our warmer weather. The Joker is situated in a side street close to the Municipal Fruit & Veg. Markets, a stone\'s throw from the seafront where there is a wide sandy beach, with a mile long pedestrian promenade. Nearby is the Market Square, which is the centre of the ‘old town’ of Quarteira where local fresh vegetables and locally caught fish are sold. The harbour is next to the fish market building, a popular tourist spot and hub of the local community. This is a great attraction for all holidaymakers and brings many people to this particular part of the town. There is a walkway to Vilamoura which is 2 km along the beach. It is an up-market prestige resort with a Marina, golf courses and luxury hotels. There is a large, colourful Wednesday gypsy market in Quarteira which brings coachloads of people in to the town each week. We have a spacious bar area around the horseshoe-shaped bar, with seating for 30 people plus 20 standing, leading to a restaurant area which can seat a further 30. There is air conditioning in the restaurant and bar, and we have all LIVE Sky Sports and UK programmes.
